Simon is a 1997 Macintosh take on the classic electronic Simon Says memory toy, written by Fernando Lagos. The computer flashes a growing sequence of colored buttons and the player must echo it back, one tone longer each round. The simple loop turns into a surprisingly punishing test of short-term recall.
Gameplay
Watch the pattern, then click the colored panels in the same order. Each successful round adds one more step, ratcheting up difficulty until the player misses a beat.
Author and release
Released in 1997 by Fernando Lagos as a small shareware diversion in the long tradition of Simon clones for the Mac.
System requirements
Runs on System 7.0 through Mac OS 9, with both 68k and PowerPC builds in the same package. It is well behaved under SheepShaver and Basilisk II for modern playback.
