ScreenTest is a movie trivia shareware game for the classic Macintosh by Brian Kelley (bkelley1@nycap.rr.com), uploaded to Info-Mac as version 2.0. The premise is simple: the program shows a quote and the player names the film. Each round runs twenty quotes drawn from a library of more than four hundred movies.
How the round works
The BinHex header lays out the loop directly: "We give you the quote, you name the movie. Each game consists of 20 quotes for you to identify. A 'Hint' button is available if you need help." Hints are now available for every quote shipped with the game, a 2.0 improvement over earlier builds.
What 2.0 added
Version 2.0's release notes call out three changes: players can now "add your own quotes using any text editor," all included quotes have hints, and the corpus of quotes and movies has grown. The user-editable text format makes the library expandable without a code change.
Distribution and registration
The Info-Mac post lists ScreenTest as $10 shareware. No publisher is named beyond the author's personal email - this is a single-developer release distributed through Info-Mac.
Sources are thin
Macintosh Garden does not appear to host a page for this title under the obvious slugs, and the Info-Mac category abstract file does not extend an entry for it. The BinHex submission note above is the only first-party description we have.
