GunPlay is a 1999 action title from Gib Foltz, published by Epic Banana, that casts the player as Deputy Dan in pursuit of a gang that has just knocked over the local bank. The job is simple: recover the money and take down as many gang members as possible along the way.
Gameplay
Played from a side-on platform perspective, GunPlay lines up Deputy Dan against waves of outlaws across short, action-driven scenes. Score and progress hinge on how many bandits the deputy drops while chasing the loot.
Engine and Authoring
The game was built using the Klik & Play engine, the same accessible toolkit behind a wave of late-1990s indie titles, and reflects the playful Epic Banana publishing style.
System Requirements
GunPlay runs on Classic Mac OS, with documented compatibility from System 7.0 through 7.6 and Mac OS 9, and ships with both 68k and PowerPC support.
Compatibility
Modern players can revisit GunPlay through Basilisk II emulation, which is the path of least resistance for running the original 68k or PPC binary on contemporary hardware.
