Crossword Puzzle Thing (CWPT) is a shareware crossword generator for PowerPC Macs by David T. Palmer of UC San Diego. The program builds crossword puzzles algorithmically while letting the user step in interactively to refine the layout, swap entries, or otherwise customize the result before solving or printing.
Interactive generation
Unlike pure auto-generators, CWPT keeps the user in the loop. Constructors can modify the crossword as it is being built, tuning fill quality and theme entries on the fly.
System requirements
Version 1.0 requires System 7.1 or later and a PowerPC processor. The distributed package is a self-extracting archive (CWPT_full_demo.sea) intended for redistribution.
Licensing
Released as shareware at a one-dollar registration fee, with the included file explicitly cleared for free redistribution by the author.
