Games That Didn't Make It is an Epic Banana compilation by the Foltz family (foltz@mix-net.net) collecting unfinished, abandoned, or rejected mini-games that had been "lying stagnant" on the developers' hard drive. Rather than polish them into a real release, the authors packaged the orphans together as an honest tour of late-1990s Mac hobby game development.
Concept
The package is framed by Ryan Foltz with a self-deprecating pitch: "Who wants to take a slippery ride down the bowels of game development? OOH! Me! ME!" Players get an assortment pack of partial titles, each abandoned at a different stage. The accompanying note warns plainly that "stupidity comes in many forms."
Format
It is a multi-game compilation, not a single title -- a curiosity release that documents the cutting-room floor of an amateur Mac game studio. That makes it of more interest as preservation material than as a polished play experience: it captures prototypes that would otherwise have vanished.
Distribution
Released as freeware through Info-Mac as games-that-didnt-make-it.hqx by Epic Banana / The Foltz Family. The compilation sits alongside the better-known Epic Banana releases of the era and survives today only via Info-Mac mirrors and Macintosh Garden-style preservation archives.
