Gunshy Alt Icons are user-made icon replacement sets for Gunshy, the classic Mac matching-tile game where pairs of pictured tiles must be cleared from the board. Rather than ship a new game, these add-ons swap the default tile artwork so the same engine can be played with a different theme. Info-Mac carries several, including Sarah M. Gunshy by Matt Stanton (DS Software).
What It Is
An icon pack, not a standalone program: drop the bundled tile set into a working copy of Gunshy and the matching pairs are redrawn with the new artwork while the rules and scoring stay the same.
Theme Packs
Info-Mac variants include Sarah M. Gunshy (Sarah McLachlan photo icons by Matt Stanton), as well as Smashing Pumpkins, Depeche Mode, Simpsons, and cartoon themes contributed by other authors.
Distribution
Released as Elseware (free, with no demand for payment) and posted to the Info-Mac board games directory as BinHex archives.
Requirements
Requires a working installation of Gunshy on a classic Mac. Decode the .hqx file with BinHex 4.0 and place the resulting tile resources alongside Gunshy.
