Principia is a small novelty desk accessory for the Classic Mac built around Sir Isaac Newton, written by Oscar Bascara. Drop the file into the Apple Menu Items folder inside the System Folder, or launch it directly as a stand-alone application, and a small window opens in the lower-left corner of the screen.
What it does
The window displays one of three images of Sir Isaac Newton. The Apple icon at the left of the menu bar then wiggles and drops down onto Newton, bonking him on the head: a tiny visual gag that nods at the apocryphal apple-and-gravity story behind the real Principia Mathematica.
How to install
Place the Principia file in the Apple Menu Items folder within the System Folder so it appears under the Apple menu, or simply double-click it as a stand-alone application. There is no further configuration; the gag plays whenever the accessory is opened.
Provenance
Distribution went out through the Info-Mac archive with a short note from the author, Oscar Bascara, and the original StuffIt-packaged Mac OS file. It is a desk accessory in the long tradition of small, single-purpose Classic Mac toys rather than a full game or utility.
