Infinity Quest II Demo is the playable showcase for Yves Meynard's fantasy action and strategy game, a greatly expanded sequel to the original Infinity Quest. Posted to Info-Mac in January 1998, the demo is fully functional but locked to the bundled levels file, with the full release adding a levels editor.
Action and Strategy Hybrid
Macintosh Garden describes Infinity Quest II as a puzzle-oriented dungeon crawler, a game more of skill than of reflexes, where the player threads through levels filled with traps, monsters, and obstacles to reach each exit, aided by collectible magic items.
What the Demo Includes
The demo carries the full game's mechanics intact and is gated only by content: it will load and play the accompanying levels file but will not open arbitrary user levels. The retail build adds the levels editor for building new dungeons.
Sequel Improvements
The author bills Infinity Quest II as a substantial expansion over the first game, building on its puzzle foundations with a richer item set and a larger pool of hazards and creatures to negotiate.
System Requirements
The demo runs on any Macintosh from the MacPlus onwards, needs 2 MB of free RAM, and requires System 6.0 or later. It supports both 256-color and black-and-white display modes, keeping it compatible with very early hardware.
