Mimic is a Simon-style memory game for the Macintosh by Echozone Software, distinguished by its unusual round window. Players watch progressively longer sequences of tones and lights, then reproduce them by mouse click or keyboard. It is a small, focused shareware title that captures the addictive simplicity of the classic handheld toy.
How to play
Each round adds one element to the sequence. The player must repeat the entire pattern in order; a single mistake ends the game and reveals the final score.
Sound styles
Mimic offers five different tone styles, letting the player swap the instrumentation that drives the memorization loop. The chosen sound is remembered between sessions once the program is registered.
Scoring
The game tracks the current run, a session high score, and (for registered users) a persistent record high score that survives quitting and relaunching.
Controls
Either the mouse or the keyboard can be used to enter sequences, accommodating players who prefer rapid keyboard taps over precise clicking on the round button face.
