Can't see any reason as to why the machine wouldn't be able to start without a battery.

I run mine on no battery and just AC adapter and it works fine.
I looked in side it has a ram upgrade but no airport card.
the keyboard is 100%
I should be able to power it up in the morning.
what is the best way to get around the password issues
i do not want to format the hd? until i look it over
reinstall a clean os? 9 or 10?
i guess i could boot up with tech tools

If OS X is on there you can just boot up from any OS X disk despite what version is on the iBook and reset it that way.
can you give a brief or point me to a description of reseting the computer login and password
If it's running OS X, then see this page:can you give a brief or point me to a description of reseting the computer login and password

You need to have an OS X CD (it shouldn't matter which version, but the same version that is on the machine would be best). If you don't, there's a way to do it through single user mode... but I can't find the article off hand.
Did it come with free sun glasses? That Lime Green is LOUD
I always wanted a clamshell iBook, a portable version of my favorite computer, the iMac G3.
I painted my blue-berry black but the display + case it was in had a bad backlight so it's only half black now.
$50 for a key lime iBook is a really good price. They were the last of the line along with the graphite at 466mhz and although not quite as fast or feature laden as a Pismo, they come darn close.
well i have the power adaptor and tried to start the ibook with and without the battery nothing happens.
the battery is bad so i cant try with battery only
i thought that may br int incomming power modual may be bad?
any ibook experts?

The adapters are know to go bad after a while, though there are some intructions somewhere on fixing them (Replacing the cable I think).
i got a new power adptr from owc
it must be the input power module or mobo dang both hard to replace.
i have a input module on the way i just hope it is not the mobo

lattest update:
i took it down and the input board was fried. i also inspected the mobo
the are small areas of white corrosion like where the input board plug solders to the mobo. and around some power components large caps mainly.
would you try to clean the mobo of the corrosion with some contact cleaner and go back with it?
I am afraid that the mobo is shorted out the input board will fry again.

There are a few guides on what do do with leaky caps on this forum. Sad to hear that itis a dud.
Logic boards for an iBook Clamshell let alone with firewire costs a lot of money. I just happen to join the LEM swap list at the right time to find a logic board for my clamshell.lattest update:

my lime clamy has 192 meg of ram and 10.3.3 installed
no dead pixels
it cost me for a mobo
i think is needs more ram and an air port card would be nice.
oh yes a new battery
i reset the passwords thanks for the help

Can your iBook stay on when it goes from battery to the power adapter? Mine can't if its fully on, sleeping? Thats no big deal
