Mental Math is a HyperCard shareware program by Joe Hammons that lets upper elementary school children practice their basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division skills simultaneously on the screen. Distributed through Info-Mac for use in computer labs and classrooms, it requires the HyperCard Player to run.
Drill the four operations
The stack covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in a single workspace, so students can move between operations rather than drilling each one in isolation.
Built for HyperCard Player
The program is delivered as a HyperCard stack and requires Apple's HyperCard Player to launch, the same runtime that shipped with many classic Mac OS systems for educational and reference titles.
Classroom-tested shareware
Per the author's own Info-Mac note, the stack was already in use by hundreds of elementary students in computer labs and classrooms before being submitted to the archive.
Distribution
Mental Math was contributed to the Info-Mac archive by Joe Hammons (hammo@softcom.net) as a BinHex 4.0 encoded HyperCard stack.
