Diplomacy Aid is a Macintosh shareware companion utility for Avalon Hill's classic board game Diplomacy. Rather than play the game itself, it assists human players and gamemasters with the bookkeeping that face-to-face and play-by-mail Diplomacy demands - tracking units, supply centers, and order adjudication on the standard pre-WWI Europe map.
What Diplomacy is
Diplomacy is Allan B. Calhamer's seven-player negotiation wargame, published by Avalon Hill, set in 1901 Europe. It famously uses no dice; outcomes are decided by simultaneous written orders and player negotiation.
How the aid helps
The utility handles the tedious parts of running a game: recording orders, resolving moves and supports, and keeping the board state current between turns - especially valuable for postal and email Diplomacy.
Audience
It is aimed at gamemasters and players running long-form games where manual adjudication is error-prone, complementing rather than replacing the physical board.
Platform
The package is a Classic Mac OS shareware release, distributed in the era when hobbyist Diplomacy circuits relied on email and BBS play.
