IRC Behavioural Issues.
No, I'm saying that even the people that have acted fine would leave, though they haven't done anything.
So what. No, I'm saying that even the people that have acted fine would leave, though they haven't done anything.
Plenty have left allready leaving the ones causing problems.
All I can say is people don't want to fix the problem, so it will not get fixed.
So you would rather have an empty channel, than a channel with people and a few "problematic people"...?
Sounds like you should go make your own channel.
Sounds like you should go make your own channel.
Sounds like you deserve what you get
deserve what I get? what does that even mean?
It means you would rather put up with bad behavior then punish a couple offenders because you worry everybody will leave. So people get tired of the BS and leave anyway and you get stuck with the badly behaving people.
STOP!
Those of you who dont like IRC leave.
Those who are bad: LEAVE
Those who are good: STAY
Problem Solved.
And I still remember the format trick! >

the mod just needs to crack the whip a bit and let people know those rules are not for show
If you ever stopped by IRC you'd know it's not that easy

IRC has been nice lately, maybe some people area bit impatient when it comes to some peoples questions, for the most part it's been really nice.
I've been on the channel a few times this week and experience has been the same.IRC has been nice lately, maybe some people area bit impatient when it comes to some peoples questions, for the most part it's been really nice.
I've felt like in the past few weeks, everything's been going well on the IRC channel, for the most part, people have been minding their manners, and discussions are, well, just that: Discussions. Nobody that I can tell has really been taking anything too far out of proportion.
Well, it's been extremely inactive to be completely honest, but it has been working well.
I see a lot of activity in the IRC channel, but I'm in a different timezone.
It's the timezone difference then, I suppose. Just a little surprising that we don't see many users on outside of just that one timezone, I mean.
About 50% of the people who speak on a regular basis are from the Eastern United States. We've got two or three from Australia, myself and one or two other people from Western United States, and maybe three or four people from England and other parts of Europe. Then, we've got at least three different people from North Carolina alone, two or three from Ohio, people from Maryland if I remember correctly, and a few other people from different regions.
mti_jake and MacTCP were both banned as a result of arguments that could've been avoided by the behavior of existing members, hell ghmd was even a victim of this at one point as well as me. I also see the arguing existing members spun up as a real negative of the irc room, it got so bad at one point that you scared away one of the nicest ops I have ever known, danamania! While I'm glad to see that the room has really calmed down as of late I hope that it continues in this direction and does not regress into its former self, if we all exercise a little self control before saying something in the room I think we can really have a great time without having to have any arguments or further bans. Lets keep up the good work!Banned whom? And don't say you, cuz that was mode +q. Some clients parse it as a ban, when it really isn't.I never came in there to make trouble and have gone out of the way to keep from starting situations, but you try to drag people in all the time to your little arguements and like to be ban happy to ANYONE that don't agree.
there was much more involved in mti_jake being banned, and there could not be a better reason for being banned then what he was banned for.mti_jake and MacTCP were both banned as a result of arguments that could've been avoided by the behavior of existing members, hell ghmd was even a victim of this at one point as well as me. I think mti_jake was banned for DoS attacks. As far as I go, I was banned for good, probably never to be forgiven with a second chance or something. I wish the rules of IRC were posted earlier, because if they were, I wouldn't be banned right now.
MacTCP,
Multitudinous warnings were given, and you were kicked two or three times as a warning. Not only did you ignore what I said about what you were doing right in front of me, seconds after I told you to stop and then kicked you for it, but you continued to harass members of #68kMLA afterward. Not cool.

It's just an IRC channel. Get over it, people.
I was kicked only once, containing the text "no feces", which I interpreted as a joke since it almost sounded like one.Multitudinous warnings were given, and you were kicked two or three times as a warning.
What?! That just isn't true. I never did that. In fact, it went the other way around. Various people, who know who they are, sent me hate messages for weeks after. >but you continued to harass members of #68kMLA afterward.
That wouldn't be the first time either, madmax was also the victim of the same because of poor choices he made in his own personal life, this caused him to be driven away from the channel (despite him being one of the kindest, innocent people I have ever known) for a time although he seems to now be giving the channel a second chance and I hope that members of the channel do not drive him away again for choices he made in his own personal life...Various people, who know who they are, sent me hate messages for weeks after. >![]()
Well these purported hate messages were not caused by #68kMLA itself nor by the op team, that I'm aware of.
If you'd like, I can re-read the logs and re-judge what went on, the outcome is likely to be the same though.

You are correct, these hate messages were not sent inside the #68kmla room itself but this is now the second time that this has reportedly happened. Where it happened, whether it be via PM, email, IM, whatever is not important. What's important is that in both these instances the victim has reported that those who sent the hate messages were people known to be members of the #68kmla IRC room and it's the fact that people are carrying arguments not just in the room itself but outside as well in the form of hate that is just horrid. There is something about the chemistry of those who participate in the room that just creates a environment that can just be god awful to participate in at times. Bad behavior in this room has driven away many people, and this behavior is still continuing unchecked. The ops need to exercise their power more vigorously before the only people left are those who are the source of the trouble!Well these purported hate messages were not caused by #68kMLA itself nor by the op team, that I'm aware of.

Well I would like that, even though it is highly unlikely for me to be unbanned.Well these purported hate messages were not caused by #68kMLA itself nor by the op team, that I'm aware of.

I am not keeping my hopes up though, because there are at least 3 people in IRC who I know hate me with a passion.
I'll just go and kickban everybody. That'll be cool.
As far as I know, ops aren't supposed to do that as per Freenode guidelines. You are correct, these hate messages were not sent inside the #68kmla room itself but this is now the second time that this has reportedly happened.
