If one of the holders of the line can send me a disk/disc with all the stuff, I could host a server. Nice speedy 1.5 Mb/s upload speed, dedicated beige G3 running Mac OS 8 and AppleShare IP 5, I could add a "Line" to it.
(Extra bonus: both my internet connection and my server are on 1 hour UPS systems, and only twice in the past 6 years have we lost power for more than 1 hour; and I haven't lost my internet connection for more than 10 minutes since switching to cable.)

alright, preterhuman has been down for over a month. What is going on? Has anyone been able to get in touch with netfreak? I uploaded a file there about 3 months ago, and unfortunately, it's not in your archives, John.

So I've set up a new 68k Hotline with about 6 gigs of storage (presently). Its at ueberlandowiki.net, no login necessary. Just dump things in Uploads, and I'll be more than happy to organize them.
And the software collection on the new server is growing... Add what you have if it's small.

ah, thanks. I will check it out later. I was looking at my server favorites in frogblast, I have 6 of them, and all of them can not connect for one reason or another.

Well even if it doesn't, be glad that JohnMM backed it up. Maybe if you guys that loved it so much can donate some money so he can relocate it to a real server that uploads faster than 5kB/s!
Luckily I have nothing against leeching hehe, and knock on wood Comcast has yet to call me regarding the bandwidth usage. Although with their coming switch to a more protocol agnostic throttling system from their current bittorrent focused system (http://government.zdnet.com/?p=3740) I may eventually be penalized automatically for the high bandwidth consumption, we'll see...
I'll start going through my stuff more methodically as soon as I get this damn essay out of the way. My olde software is spread out across three different computers and a couple of Basilisk II HD images..

it says the users of Hotline basically revolted against the company after they sued the crap out of the author of the software and left him with nothing. They went out of business shortly after that. Sometimes justice can be poetic.

Hey all, found this thread while doing a google search for my name
Preterhuman.net will be back up, but the big question is when. The server hardware is currently sitting on my kitchen floor as I had to pull it out of the DC. I was hoping to have another DC lined up for a quick move but unfortunately the other DC I had in mind seems to be going bankrupt. I'm still attempting to find a DC but most likely will require me to relocate the servers outside of the city I live in. I'm hoping to resolve this within 1-2 weeks.
