Meta Warrior is a fan-made scenario for Bungie's Marathon first-person shooter series, distributed on the classic Macintosh during the era when amateur level designers built total conversions on top of the Marathon engine. Like other community scenarios, it bundles new maps, textures, and shapes for play through a Marathon engine binary.
Marathon scenario context
Bungie shipped Marathon, Marathon 2: Durandal, and Marathon Infinity for Macintosh in the mid-1990s, and the Infinity release in particular encouraged third-party scenario authoring through bundled editing tools.
Distribution
Like its peers in the Marathon community, Meta Warrior was released as a downloadable scenario package intended to be loaded into a compatible Marathon engine on a classic Mac OS system.
Modern play
Marathon-era scenarios remain playable today through the open-source Aleph One engine, which is the standard route for running classic Marathon content on modern hardware.
