More TC Films is a collection of Marathon film recordings, the in-engine replay format used by Bungie's 1994 Macintosh first-person shooter Marathon and its sequels. The bundle gathers playthroughs recorded against third-party Total Conversions (TCs) of Marathon, preserved alongside the conversions themselves.
Marathon Films
A Marathon film is a deterministic replay file: the engine records player input and replays the level by re-running the simulation, producing a faithful playback of the original session at very small file sizes.
Total Conversions
Total Conversions for Marathon repurpose the engine's maps, shapes, sounds, and physics to deliver entirely new scenarios, and the community produced a substantial body of these throughout the late 1990s.
Use and Requirements
To play these films back, a working copy of Marathon (or the matching TC) is required, since films contain only input data and rely on the original game data to render the replay.
Preservation Value
By archiving the films alongside the conversions they were recorded against, the package preserves a record of how the community actually played these mods, which is otherwise easy to lose as engines and maps drift apart.
