This Info-Mac upload is a collection of Marathon 2: Durandal demo films recorded by Japanese Marathon player Michio Hashimoto (Miha), capturing a complete playthrough of every level on the game's hardest difficulty, Total Carnage. It is a films archive, not a standalone game, intended to be played back inside Marathon 2.
Contents
The submission, originally titled M2-Miha-Rules-TC-Films.hqx, contains Marathon 2 film recordings for every level played at Total Carnage difficulty. Films are Marathon's native replay format, played back from inside the engine to reproduce the original session input-for-input.
Author and submission
Submitted to Info-Mac by Naoki Yokoyama (nao@keyaki.cc.u-tokai.ac.jp), who notes the archive belongs in game/com/mthn. The accompanying note describes Miha as having "survived in total carnage" while also exploring "almost every secret of every level," framing the films as both a feat run and an instructional resource.
Requirements
Requires a working installation of Bungie's Marathon 2: Durandal on classic Mac OS (or via Aleph One on modern systems) to load and view the films. The archive ships as a BinHex 4.0 (.hqx) file and contains films plus documentation, not executable code.
Preservation status
Mirrored from Info-Mac at info-mac/game/com/mthn/marathon-mihas-m2-tc-files.hqx. No Macintosh Garden landing page or screenshots were located; the submission email and accompanying readme are the primary documentary sources.
This file is part of the MacTrove archive. See the Thank You page for the upstream mirrors we rely on. It is BinHex encoded — use The Unarchiver to decode it.
