Demon Warrior is Robert Ritcher Jr.'s fifteen-level fan scenario for Wolfenstein 3D: Third Encounter, the Mac-only third episode of the original Wolfenstein, packing custom artwork, enhanced gameplay touches, and a sound patch into a single Info-Mac upload from the late 1990s shareware era.
Levels and content
The scenario adds fifteen new maps to the Third Encounter campaign, themed around fantasy rather than the original World War II setting: bushes and trees punctuate the corridors, statues move, and the bestiary is reworked around magic hearts, wizards, and witches. The author advertises "new artwork and enhanced gameplay" - the wall textures and sprites are swapped out, not just the level geometry.
Sound patch
Bundled alongside the level data is a separate patch that injects new sound effects into the host game. The included readme has the install steps; the patch and the level pack are intended to be applied together for the intended experience.
Engine and requirements
The pack requires a working install of Wolfenstein 3D: Third Encounter on a 68k or PowerPC Mac. It is a data add-on, not a standalone application, so it depends entirely on the Third Encounter executable to load. Distributed as a single BinHex archive under info-mac/game/com/wolf (the Info-Mac directory used for Wolfenstein Mac scenarios).
Provenance
Self-published by Robert Ritcher Jr. (handle BeetLman, BeetLman@aol.com) through the Info-Mac submission queue. There is no Macintosh Garden entry, no MobyGames record, and no contemporary review trail - the BinHex header itself is effectively the only surviving curatorial documentation of the release.
