Sim Tower Cheat is a small companion utility for Maxis and OPeNBooK's 1994 hit SimTower: The Vertical Empire, the Mac and Windows simulation in which players grow a single skyscraper from a humble lobby into a five-star tower. The cheat tool nudges the in-game economy so players can experiment without grinding.
What SimTower is
SimTower casts the player as the architect and operator of a high-rise, balancing offices, condos, hotel rooms, restaurants, shops, and elevators while keeping tenants happy. Star ratings unlock new building types, and a successful tower eventually reaches the coveted Tower rating.
Why a cheat tool
The game's slow early growth and tight cash flow led many players to seek shortcuts. Cheat utilities for SimTower commonly modify the saved-game file or running money value so designers can prototype layouts and test elevator strategies without waiting on rents to accumulate.
Use with care
As with any save-file editor, it is wise to back up your SimTower save before applying changes. Cheat tools from this era target specific game versions, and mismatches can corrupt a tower you have spent hours growing.
Preservation note
Sim Tower Cheat is preserved on Macintosh Garden as a third-party fan utility, distinct from the SimTower game itself. Treat the program as period-appropriate hobbyist software with no formal support from Maxis or OPeNBooK.
