Cpav is an obscure Classic Mac OS title preserved in the Macintosh Garden archive. Limited public documentation survives for it: catalog metadata identifies the file but no detailed description, author bio, or contemporary review has been recovered, so this entry sticks to what the archive itself records.
What we know
The package is distributed in the era's standard form, typically a BinHex (.hqx) or StuffIt (.sit) archive containing a single Classic Mac application and any supporting resources. File-fork structure indicates it was built for the pre-Mac OS X era.
Running it today
Like most software from this era, Cpav targets Classic Mac OS (System 7 through Mac OS 9). On modern hardware that means an emulator: Mini vMac for early System releases, Basilisk II for 68k Mac OS 7-8, or SheepShaver for PowerPC-era Mac OS 8.6-9.0.4.
Installation
Use StuffIt Expander inside the emulated Classic Mac OS to decode the .hqx wrapper and unpack the StuffIt archive. The expanded folder can be dragged anywhere on the emulated hard disk; double-click the application file to launch.
Help wanted
If you recognize Cpav, know its author, or have original documentation, the Macintosh Garden community welcomes corrections and additional metadata via the site's contribution channels. Better provenance helps preserve these long-tail Classic Mac releases properly.
This file is part of the MacTrove archive. See the Thank You page for the upstream mirrors we rely on. It is BinHex encoded — use The Unarchiver to decode it.
