Praxis Splasher is a toddler-friendly Classic Mac toy from Praxis Works that turns the keyboard and mouse into a safe, colorful playground. Aimed at one- to three-year-olds, it gives small children an early, harmless taste of the computer while shielding the rest of the system from curious fingers.
How it plays
Each key press fills the black screen with a giant, brightly colored letter, number, or symbol. If QuickTime is installed, the keystroke is also paired with a musical note. Moving the mouse drifts the character around the screen, and clicking changes its color.
Designed for little hands
The program deliberately ignores the usual modifier shortcuts so toddlers cannot quit, switch apps, or damage open documents. Parents get a few minutes of supervised peace; children get familiar with keyboards, mice, letters, sounds, and colors.
Versions and distribution
This Info-Mac release of version 1.0 was provided as separate 68K and PowerPC builds, posted by erik@praxisworks.com. The Praxis Works website (www.praxisworks.com/software/) hosted further information at the time.
