The Probe Demo is the sibling preservation of a Mac shareware preview distributed under the Probe name. It is the companion to a second Probe demo cataloged separately, and both are kept in the archive because their relationship and version differences are not fully documented.
Two surviving builds
The archive holds two distinct demo packages under the Probe title. Rather than collapse them, both are preserved so researchers can compare contents and disk images directly.
Demo scope
As a demo, the package offers a slice of the intended full product - typical of Mac shareware previews from the 1990s shareware era.
Distribution era
The build targets Classic Mac OS and reflects the FTP / CD-ROM compilation distribution model common to small-team Mac releases of the period.
Preservation note
Author, publisher, and exact release year are not confirmed in the archive record. The title is retained pending stronger provenance.
