Carrot Patch 3.0 is a HyperCard arcade-puzzle game by Bruce A. Pokras, copyright 1993-95 and 1998, in which the player guides a hungry rabbit around a fenced patch eating carrots while dodging traps. Bonus points reward speed, and two skill modes scale the challenge from a gentle on-ramp to a punishing endgame.
How it plays
The Regular game covers Levels 1-5, starting easy and ramping up to hard. The Advanced game covers Levels 3-6, starting hard and, in the author's own words, getting impossible. Movement uses arrow keys in version 3, replacing earlier click-based control.
Patch editor
Version 3 ships with a drag-and-drop interface for modifying the layout of the included carrot patches. Building entirely new patches from scratch requires registering the shareware.
Requirements
Carrot Patch needs HyperCard Player 2.2 or higher, or any version of Hyper-Stack Player. The release was distributed through Info-Mac via mac-stacks@kagi.com as a HyperCard stack rather than a standalone application.
Shareware terms
The author asks $5 for registration; unregistered users get the full bundled patches and editor but cannot author entirely new layouts.
