This is the 1.2.2 patch for Cerberus Development's shareware 3D racing-and-carnage sim Speed Demon. It updates any earlier copy of the PowerPC-only Speed Demon to version 1.2.2, smoothing out a handful of rough edges that had carried over from the 1.2.1 release while leaving every other game system, track, and weapon untouched.
What it fixes
The patch clears three specific issues from version 1.2.1: the spurious "Time Expired" message that could appear after completing a level no longer fires, the car's leaning behavior is restored to its earlier, correct feel, and a bad sample in the finale music is replaced.
What it patches
Speed Demon itself is a polygon-based, texture-mapped 3D racer for Power Macintosh, with cross-country tracks, a demolition derby mode, and weapons including machine guns, missile launchers, oil shooters, and phasers. Single-player and up to five-player network games are supported over TCP/IP or AppleTalk.
How to apply
Run the patch against any prior 1.2.x install of Speed Demon. The underlying game still requires a Power Macintosh with 16 MB of free RAM, and Open Transport 1.1 (bundled with System 7.5.3 and later) for network play.
