Hoverspeeder BGM is the optional background-music pack for HoverSpeeder, Atsushi Takano's Japanese Mac arcade racer published by Cool Breeze Studio in 2000. It is not a standalone game; it is a separate downloadable soundtrack add-on that the main HoverSpeeder application loads to replace or supplement its built-in audio.
Contents
The pack ships as hoverspeeder-bgm.hqx (around 3.37 MB) and contains the looping in-race music tracks used by HoverSpeeder. Players drop the pack alongside their existing HoverSpeeder install so the game can pick up the additional BGM during play.
Parent Game
HoverSpeeder itself is a top-down arcade-style hover racing game built on Takano's own M2GE (Macintosh 2D Game Engine), which targets classic-arcade-style action titles. It was released as shareware and also received a Japanese budget retail box edition. Minimum requirements are System 7.5.3 or later on a 68k or PowerPC Mac.
Distribution
Both HoverSpeeder and its BGM pack circulated through Japanese Mac shareware channels and were mirrored to Info-Mac and Macintosh Garden, where the BGM pack remains catalogued as a companion download to the main game.
