Space Junkie is a 1993 top-down arcade shooter for classic Mac OS by Tuan Huynh, released as shareware and later distributed commercially by Pointware under the title Space Crazed. Waves of alien craft sweep into the player's lane and must be blasted away in the spirit of Space Invaders and Galaga.
Gameplay
The player pilots a single ship against successive waves of attackers, dodging fire and clearing the screen before the enemies overwhelm the bottom edge. Power-ups, score multipliers, and escalating difficulty drive the loop, with cheat codes (such as Buck Rogers) available for invincibility.
Pointware and the Space Crazed edition
The shareware build that circulated as Space Junkie was repackaged by German publisher Pointware as a boxed product titled Space Crazed. Both editions share the same engine and content, but the commercial release added retail packaging and registration. Surviving copies of the Space Crazed disk image are scarce.
System requirements
The game targets System 7.0 through Mac OS 9. Three releases are archived (v1.0, v1.1a, v1.2a) ranging from roughly 43 KB to 120 KB; all run cleanly under the SheepShaver classic Mac emulator on modern hosts.
