NS-SHAFT 1.2 is the original Japanese/English build of Nagi-P Soft's downward-scrolling action game by Akihiko Akusanagi. Players steer a small character with the arrow keys, dropping from platform to platform deeper into a shaft while a life gauge whittles away with every brush against the cave's spiked pillars.
How It Plays
Falling clear to the bottom of the screen ends the run, as does running out of the life shown in the upper-left corner. Landing on plain floors recharges the gauge; conveyer belts, revolving tiles and other special floors keep the descent unpredictable.
What's New in 1.2
This revision adds the revolving floor tile and a SpeedUp option, and retains the smooth scrolling and background music tuning introduced in earlier releases of the series.
Author and Series
Akihiko Akusanagi released NS-SHAFT through Nagi-P Soft as a companion to NS-TOWER, which inverts the concept and has the player climb upward. A French localisation of this same 1.2 build was uploaded separately as ns-shaft-12-fr.hqx.
Distribution Terms
NS-SHAFT is shareware. The author granted Info-Mac explicit permission to include the program on its CD-ROM compilations; other shareware publishers were asked to contact Nagi-P Soft for approval first.
