ChaosPoetry Generator is a HyperCard-based writing tool by Matthew W. Schmeer, distributed via the Info-Mac archive as a shareware aid for writers struggling with writer's block. Rather than producing finished verse, it works as a controlled random-string generator: the user supplies the word lists and the stack shuffles them into provocative combinations.
How it works
In the author's own words, ChaosPoetry Generator "is a random string generator wherein you control the strings." Writers feed in their own pools of words and phrases; the stack then assembles those fragments into unexpected pairings intended to jolt the user past a creative block. Full documentation ships inside the HyperCard stack.
Version 1.2
Version 1.2 is primarily a bug-fix release. The author notes that it "corrects a major bug which would not allow you to save your generated text. This has been fixed, and now CPG allows full text export," so writers can carry generated material out of the stack into other applications.
Author and distribution
The stack was written by Matthew W. Schmeer (poetink@inlink.com) and explicitly authorised for inclusion on the Info-Mac CD-ROM. As a HyperCard stack it requires HyperCard or HyperCard Player on a classic Macintosh.
