Dock is a small Classic Mac space simulation in which the player pilots the Space Shuttle into a rendezvous with the Mir space station. Submitted to the Info-Mac Archive by enivasch@sa.omnes.net, it captures the late-1990s fascination with Shuttle-Mir operations in a lightweight 68k-era download.
Premise
The submission describes the program as "a simulation of an earth orbiting space shuttle and the MIR space station," with a single objective: dock the Shuttle to the station.
Controls
To complete the rendezvous the pilot must fly over the station, then "maneuver the Shuttle by firing its thrust motors and by turning the direction in which the motors will fire," balancing thrust vector against orbital geometry.
Distribution
Dock was distributed via Info-Mac as a BinHex 4.0 archive (dock-10.hqx) under the games folder, the standard email-submission format used by the archive throughout the System 7 and Mac OS 8 period.
