NumFun is a standalone shareware math drill application for Classic Mac OS by Joe Hammons, designed to teach arithmetic facts to young learners through a mix of timed drills, visual aids, and small logic challenges. The four core operations - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division - each get their own practice mode.
Visual arithmetic
Rather than presenting bare equations, NumFun uses on-screen objects to anchor the four operations, helping younger students connect abstract numerals to concrete counts of items they can see and tally.
Number puzzle
Beyond the operation drills, the program ships a logic-driven number puzzle that asks the learner to reason about constraints rather than simply recall a memorized fact.
Guess the secret number
A separate mental-math mode invites the player to discover the computer's hidden number through a sequence of guesses and feedback, training estimation and bracketing skills.
Distribution
NumFun is shareware: the author distributes the standalone application freely while expecting registered users to pay for continued use. The submission to Info-Mac came directly from Joe Hammons.
