Cloudz is a 1998 freeware arcade puzzler for Mac OS 8 and 9 by Polish hobbyist developer Adam Winiecki, built on the Screaming Cabala engine. The player navigates a small character across a sky of platforms by bouncing rather than walking, with the singular goal of avoiding a fall and reaching the level exit.
Gameplay
Movement is governed entirely by the bounce mechanic: each tap of a direction key launches the avatar to a neighbouring cloud, and timing determines whether the next platform is reached or missed. Levels are short, score-free vignettes built around precision and route-finding, with the exit doubling as a checkpoint between stages.
Engine and technical changes
The PowerPC build (version 1.0.9, distributed as a 3.74 MB StuffIt archive) targets System 7 through Mac OS 9 and runs cleanly under SheepShaver, making it one of the smaller Screaming Cabala demonstrations preserved on the Macintosh Garden curator pages.
Development and release
Cloudz was distributed as freeware through the late-1990s European Mac shareware scene and has since been archived by Macintosh Garden as one of Winiecki's surviving titles. No commercial release or sequel followed.
