Columns ][ is a single-player falling-block puzzler for the Classic Mac OS by Chris Christensen of Elegant Solutions, released in 1992. Players manipulate stacks of patterned tiles as they descend, trying to line up sequences of three matching boxes horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to clear them from the well.
Gameplay
Each falling column carries three patterned tiles whose order can be cycled before they land. Matching three of a kind in any straight line removes them, while chained clears trigger cascading combos that reward planning ahead under accelerating pressure.
Author and Publisher
The game comes from Chris Christensen, the same prolific Mac shareware author behind a string of Elegant Solutions card and puzzle titles, and was published under that Elegant Solutions banner.
System
Columns ][ runs on 68k Macintoshes and is compatible from System 6.x all the way through Mac OS 8.1, covering nearly the full Classic Mac OS lifespan.
