nh30j+

nh30j+ is an enhanced Japanese-language port of NetHack 3.0 for the Classic Mac OS. It builds on the nh30j base by carrying additional patches and quality-of-life tweaks while keeping the localized Japanese interface and message text that distinguish the j-line from the upstream English release.

NetHack 3.0 Lineage

NetHack 3.0 was a major 1989 release of the long-running roguelike, introducing the class system, the Gnomish Mines, and many monsters and items that became series staples. nh30j+ preserves that 3.0 ruleset rather than tracking later 3.1+ branches.

Japanese Localization

Menus, prompts, and in-game messages are translated to Japanese, with character handling adjusted for the Japanese Mac environment of the era (KanjiTalk / Japanese System).

Gameplay

Classic turn-based roguelike dungeon crawl: descend the Mazes of Menetlin, recover the Amulet of Yendor, and ascend, with permadeath and procedurally generated levels.

Compatibility

Built for 68k Macintoshes running a Japanese-localized System; the '+' build is the variant edition alongside the base nh30j release.
