Spin Doctor is a frantic puzzle-action game from Callisto Corporation, played on a grid of dots around which spinning wands pivot like clock hands. The player swings from dot to dot, timing releases to dodge hazards, scoop bonuses, and reach the sparkling goal that unlocks the next stage.
Gameplay
Each level is a lattice of pegs with the player's wand rotating around one of them. Tap to release and the wand flies tangentially to the next peg in its arc, where it latches and begins spinning again. Mistime a release and the wand spirals off into a wall or hazard.
Hazards and bonuses
Levels fill with rotating blockers, gates that open only on certain colors, and pickup tokens scattered across hard-to-reach pegs. A clean run rewards bonus points; a clipped wall ends the attempt and forces a restart of the board.
Developer and release
Spin Doctor was developed by Callisto Corporation for the classic Mac OS. The game became a cult favorite for its hypnotic geometry and tight one-button control scheme.
Legacy
The peg-and-wand mechanic was unusual enough that Spin Doctor is still cited as a reference point for momentum-based puzzlers, and the title remained in circulation through Macintosh shareware and abandonware channels long after Callisto shifted focus.
