Donna Matrix Demo Patch is a small update file for the Donna Matrix demo, the interactive promo for Reactor's 1993 CD-ROM title built around Mike Saenz's pioneering 3D-rendered character work. The patch updates the demo binary so it runs correctly on the systems it was rebuilt to support.
The Donna Matrix Title
Donna Matrix was a Reactor production from the same studio that released Spaceship Warlock and the Virtual Valerie series, all built on Macromedia Director. It paired Saenz's CGI artwork with a Mac CD-ROM playback experience.
What the Patch Does
As a demo patch, the file is intended to be applied to an existing copy of the Donna Matrix demo rather than installed on its own. Patches of this sort typically address a compatibility or playback bug rather than adding new content.
Reactor on the Mac
Reactor's CD-ROM titles were among the most visually ambitious Mac releases of the early 1990s, and small follow-up patches like this one extended their life as Mac OS versions evolved.
Running Today
The patch needs a working copy of the Donna Matrix demo to apply against. Both run in a classic Mac environment such as SheepShaver with an era-appropriate System 7 or Mac OS 8 installation.
