Someone should really sticky the other browser6 topic. It's kind of annoying to have to dig through several topics just to get to the download link.

how goes it porter?

Alas, I have not been able to find time to do any work on it for the last month.

How is it it coming along so far? My inbox is getting lonely again.

Regretfully I haven't been able to spare any time this year so far.

My order:

* Plain text layout

* Forms

* Can download files

* Doesn't bomb when you quit

* Beyond plain text layout (ie, bold, font sizes, etc)

* Image Support

I would love to spend more time on this but right at the moment I'm otherwise occupied. I expect to get back to it in the next month or so. Text rendering is the next job....

Man, you really need to find someone else to help develop your browser when you're occupied. You've been occupied like this for several months now. Can we still download the source code? I'm sure some people on this site would really be willing to help you with the development of your browser. If we can all pitch in, we can get it done faster, instead of waiting months for you to find time to do it. :b&w:

Are you trying to run it from the command line? Try running it from the Finder.

There should be a single binary at the root of the browserx folder which MacOSX should run.

I tried running it from the Finder, and it bounced a couple of times and died. im running 10.3.9.

Launch Xcode and open the project in that, then run with debugging. All the source should be there.

Um... where is the project file? linky?

Are there any files that end in ".c" and ".xproj" in the ZIP?

Nope

I suggest that the next packaging contains all that good stuff. I'll also make sure I test builds on Jaguar.

Porter, I'm still waiting. :) Just email me, it may or may not take a while, I'm no longer as regular here on this forum.

I do acknowledge the fact ur a little busy, porter, but could we get a hi or peep from u?

Still here, and tinkering on the browser. Will have something soon I hope.

Porter,

I'm unable to compile Browser6 under Think C 5.0. I open the project, make, and it gets quite a ways before giving the error...

Code:
can't open file "MacTCP.h"
... This error comes from the #include in the header AdressXlation.h

There's no MacTCP.h in the source. I tried putting a MacTCP.h in the folder, but Think C didn't see it.

So my question is... How do I Think C to find MacTCP.h, or is that not even the problem?

Thanks.

Include directories are a pain under Think C, if everything is the the same directory it works.

However inside the Think C folder itself is a folder for includes, what you do is put aliases in there to your directories with include files, this approach doesn't really scale, but it's fine for putting things like MacTCP.h in.

Well done for attempting to compile, I'v just acquired a new pismo and hopefully will find time to do the text rendering.

Well done for attempting to compile
It's my pleasure. Hoping to do something useful some day and save you some trouble. Looks like for now I'll just cause you more. :)

So I put MacTCP.h in the includes dir in Think C as you suggested, and that got me past the include problem, but now I'm getting an error in MacTCP.h

Code:
invalid declaration
for the line:

Code:
typedef UInt8 b_8;
I suspect that I'm using the wrong MacTCP.h? Here's what I'm using:

Code:
 	Version:	Technology:	MacTCP 2.0.6
				Package:	Universal Interfaces 2.1 in ÒMPW LatestÓ on ETO #18

	Copyright:	© 1984-1995 by Apple Computer, Inc.
				All rights reserved.
Do you think I need your copy of MacTCP.h, or is this a different issue?

You need an earlier MacTCP.h, Think C5.0 is prior to universal headers.

Either that or you fixup MacTCP.h as you go.

I'll dig out what I am using.

I'll dig out what I am using.
That would be great. I searched my systems, and then the Internet, and all I could find anywhere was MacTCP.h 2.0.6

hey porter, i noticed theres only source in the _browser6_ package. could you pretty please email me the latest mpw for system 6 and the mactcp.h file so i can give it a whirl? thx.

It can be built using Think C5.0 which is apparently available.

I've also built it using later MPWs including the current one.
