Second Encounter is the full Macintosh sequel to the Wolfenstein 3D shareware demo First Encounter, expanding the game with 27 additional levels for a total of 30 stages adapted from the 3DO port. id Software's corridor shooter arrives with brighter graphics, new sound, and the same B.J. Blazkowicz hunt through Nazi-held bunkers.
Gameplay
Classic first-person action: arrow keys to move, Control to fire, Space to open doors, Tab to cycle weapons. Players pick from a difficulty ladder and grind through 30 maze-like floors of guards, dogs, and secret rooms.
Developer and release
Ported by MacPlay from id Software's original, published by Interplay. The floppy version shipped in 1994, with a CD-ROM release following in 1995.
System requirements
System 6.0.7 or later (System 7 for the CD), a 256-color 640x480 display, about 2200K free RAM, and at least a 68030 IIci or LC III. The fat binary runs natively on both 68k and PowerPC Macs.
