Duraci is a classic Mac implementation of Durak, the traditional Russian shedding-style card game whose name translates roughly as "fool" — the loser is the last player left holding cards. The Mac version brings the trump-driven attack and defense rhythm of the table game to System 7 and Mac OS 8 era machines.
Durak Rules at a Glance
Players take turns attacking with cards that the defender must beat using higher cards of the same suit or trumps. Undefended attacks are picked up, and the goal is to empty your hand before the deck runs out.
Russian Card Game Heritage
Durak is one of the most widely played folk card games in the former Soviet Union, and Mac shareware implementations like Duraci helped bring its rules to a wider international audience.
Classic Mac Card Game
The title sits alongside the long tradition of small Mac card-game ports — solitaire, hearts, bridge — distributed through Info-Mac and similar archives during the 1990s.
