Polly is a HyperCard 2.3 stack that simulates, to a certain extent, a parrot. You can hold conversations with her, set her moods or let them flow on their own, feed her crackers (if you can figure out how), teach her new things to say, and more. A small, charming experiment in conversational software from the heyday of HyperCard.
What It Does
Polly responds to your input and shifts moods, giving the illusion of a tiny digital pet living inside a stack. Discovering how to feed her and coax new behavior out of her is part of the fun.
Teach Her to Talk
You can teach Polly things to say. A microphone is recommended (but not required) for the teaching feature, letting you expand her vocabulary directly with your own voice.
Requirements
Color is required, and the stack runs in HyperCard 2.x. A microphone is optional but recommended for the speech-teaching features.
Distribution
Released as shareware with a flexible fee from $2.50 up to $20, depending on how much you wanted to support the author. Distributed via Info-Mac by ikrieg@rc.net.
