Brickles Deluxe

Brickles Deluxe is the deluxe 1.3.2 release of the long-running ball-and-paddle shareware game from Ken Winograd of Space-Time Associates, published in 2001. It extends the classic Brickles formula that has been a Macintosh staple since the very first generation of Mac shareware in the mid-1980s era.

Ball-and-paddle action

Players steer a paddle along the bottom of the playfield, bouncing a ball into walls of bricks until the screen is cleared, in the tradition that Brickles helped popularise on the original Mac.

Deluxe edition features

The Deluxe build layers richer graphics and sound onto the core mechanic, sitting between the original freeware Brickles and the more elaborate Brickles Pro release as the middle entry in Winograd's lineup.

Shareware and OS X port

Distributed as Macintosh shareware, Brickles Deluxe was also offered as a universal binary OS X edition purchasable directly from the author, extending its reach beyond the classic Mac OS years.

Space-Time Associates lineage

Space-Time Associates maintained the Brickles family across multiple system generations, making it one of the longest-lived independent Mac arcade franchises.
