Released in 1999 by Prisim Software, Lost and Found: Another Joe Average Adventure is a Macintosh point-and-click puzzle adventure (catalogued here under the broader arcade umbrella). The premise is small and personal: Joe's new apartment has been robbed and the player must help him track down eight stolen items across more than 1,200 hand-drawn scenes.
Setting and theme
The game continues the everyman misadventures of Joe Average, who debuted in Get Rich Quick. This entry is roughly three times the size of its predecessor, sending Joe out across eight explorable areas in pursuit of his missing belongings, with a comic, low-stakes tone throughout.
Gameplay
Players navigate hand-drawn scenes, examine objects, talk to characters, and solve item-based puzzles. Eight different endings are reachable depending on choices and progress, encouraging multiple playthroughs. The interface and presentation follow the classic Mac shareware adventure-game template.
Development and release
Prisim Software released Lost and Found as a shareware title for classic Mac OS in 1999, distributing it through Mac shareware channels and later preserved on Macintosh Garden. It was the second Joe Average title and remained an obscure but lovingly hand-illustrated entry in late-90s Mac adventure gaming.
