Pinochle is a Macintosh implementation of the classic trick-taking card game played with a 48-card pinochle deck, offering computer-controlled opponents so a single player can run through full hands of bidding, melding, and trick play without needing a live partner or third player at the table.
The game
Pinochle is a meld and trick-taking game traditionally played by two to four players, blending bidding, melding of card combinations, and trick play across a shortened deck of 9 through Ace in each suit, doubled.
Mac implementation
The Mac version has shipped in multiple revisions, with both 2.0 and 3.0 releases circulating; in-program instructions cover rules and controls rather than relying on a separate manual.
Related Mac card games
Players who enjoy this title often also pick up Bezique, a similar two-handed card game frequently described as a relative of Pinochle, as well as the Hoyle Card Games collections that bundle Pinochle alongside many other classic deck games.
