Hearts is a classic Macintosh implementation of the trick-taking card game, released by Loki Engineering Inc. in 1984 for early 68K Macs running System 1 through 6.x. The Info-Mac sibling upload distributes David Skelly's freeware Hearts 2.0 build of the same family.
The Game
Standard four-player Hearts: avoid taking hearts and the Queen of Spades, or shoot the moon by capturing them all. The Mac version handles three computer opponents and tracks scores across multiple hands.
Skelly's 2.0 Build
David Skelly's Hearts 2.0 is freeware, runs on PPC or 68K Macs, requires System 7 (and may run under System 6 untested), and uses less than 300K of RAM, making it friendly to the smallest classic configurations.
Teaching Tool
Many users credit the early Mac Hearts with teaching them the rules of the game; the clean Platinum-era interface walks players through legal plays and scoring without friction.
Distribution
Bundled in the Info-Mac crd (cards) directory alongside dozens of skinned Hearts variants from the community.
