ChunBoKun 3.0 is a two-player arena fighter for Classic Mac OS, written in BASIC by an early hobbyist developer credited as jwood. Despite the author's own description of it as a beginner project, it packs over eleven special moves per character, a hidden fatality, and fourteen distinct combat arenas.
Arena combat
The game is built squarely around local two-player matches, pitching fighters against each other in stage-driven brawls rather than offering a single-player campaign or AI opponent.
Stage hazards and physics
Each of the fourteen arenas carries its own quirks. Levels can introduce wind, altered gravity, varying platform heights, air vents, and pits that turn positioning into as much of a weapon as any special move.
Hidden fatality
Beyond the standard set of eleven-plus moves per fighter, each character hides a finishing fatality, echoing the era's mainstream fighting game design while keeping the discovery curve short.
System requirements
ChunBoKun expects a 256-color or greater monitor at 640x480 resolution, System 7.5 or greater (with a chance of running on 7.1), and roughly 4 MB of RAM. The author solicited interest in a from-scratch successor via a bundled "Readme-OFFER!" document inside the program folder.
