Alvoune is an obscure 1.0 puzzle-game distributed through the Info-Mac archive by a Swedish author writing as "Pandaa" (pandaa@swipnet.se). The premise is straightforward: the player eliminates squares from a board, working through a tile-clearing logic puzzle in the same broad family as Same Game and other 1990s shareware square-removers.
Eliminate the squares
The single sentence the author left in the Info-Mac abstract is the entire pitch: it is a puzzle game in which the player eliminates squares. The mechanics are not further documented in the archive metadata, and Alvoune does not appear in MobyGames or the major Mac game wikis, putting it firmly in the "random shareware compilation find" tier of Classic Mac obscurity.
Random looks
Alvoune ships with a number of different visual themes for the playfield and chooses one randomly each time the program is launched. That gives a single short puzzle session a small amount of variety without changing the underlying rules, a common shareware-era trick to make a one-mode game feel less repetitive.
Distribution
The game is preserved in the Info-Mac mirror as alvoune-10.hqx (about 3.9 MB BinHex) under info-mac/game. It is one of those Classic Mac titles that survives only as the file plus a five-line Subject blurb; if you want to know what Alvoune actually plays like, the only authoritative source is the binary itself, run under Mini vMac or a comparable emulator.
