Domain is a 1995 Macintosh rendition of the classic strategy board game Othello (also known as Reversi), authored by Mike Perry. Players take turns placing discs on an 8x8 board, flipping the opponent's pieces by flanking them, with the goal of finishing the match holding the majority of pieces.
Gameplay
Domain follows traditional Othello rules: each move must outflank one or more enemy discs, which then convert to your color. The match ends when neither player can move, and whoever controls more squares wins.
Presentation
The game uses a top-down view of the playing field rendered in the Platinum-era Macintosh interface, suiting the modest hardware of mid-1990s desktops.
Distribution
Domain version 1.0 was distributed as a BinHex archive (Domain_1.0.hqx) typical of shareware circulated through Info-Mac and similar channels.
Compatibility
The title runs cleanly under SheepShaver and other Classic Mac OS emulators, making it accessible for preservation and casual replay today.
